If you are a hard core fan of curry mee, then Hot Bowl White Curry Mee should not something new to you. It has been featured on some TV shows and magazines. As the name suggested, their main signature food will be curry mee. The selling point of the curry mee is actually the soup, its white in color. Although their selling point seems interesting, but its actually normal curry mee without the chili paste. Located at Abu Siti Lane, parking can be quite hard especially during lunch hours, the place is air-conditioned, so its pretty comfortable even to enjoy a bowl of hot and spicy curry mee under the hot weather. You will need to order the curry mee at the counter, you can opt for some additional ingredients such as prawns, fish balls, crab sticks etc. Other than the white curry mee, their Deboned Boiled Chicken with Soy Sauce (
白斩鸡 ) is a must try too. Its definitely one of the best in Penang. There will be some deep fried local delicacies, dumplings, yam cake, pork trotters available too....
White Curry Mee (Rm4.50 big, as shown in pictures; small bowl would be Rm3.50). Extra cockles were added. As mentioned, the curry mee was nothing special just that the soup was white in color. The soup has a rich coconut milk aroma and was more to sweeter side. The curry mee was slightly pricey since there were not any prawns given. Extra charges of Rm2 will be added if you wish to add some prawns, as for fish balls and crab sticks, it will be Rm1 each. It would be ideal if they could have added more soup for me especially when it comes to such a big bowl/portion of noodles.
A small bowl of their chili paste will be provided on each table. Customers can top up any amount of chili paste they like according to their preferences. The chili paste was something unique, it has a very special fragrant aroma which goes well with the white curry mee soup.
Deboned Boiled Chicken with Soy Sauce (白斩鸡), Rm5 for small, Rm16 half bird). We had half bird of the chicken and the portion was just nice for the three of us. This is definitely one of my favorite boiled chicken in Penang. The tender and juicy chicken worked perfectly well with the flavorful soy sauce which tasted a bit sweet and salty. The parsley and spring onions complemented well too, savor the chicken meat together with some thinly cut parsley, spring onions and their specially made sourish chili sauce. You may opt to have chicken rice or Ipoh Hor Fun (怡宝河粉) Definitely something you do not want to miss. Recommended.
As for drinks, its recommended to go for their home made soya milk (Rm1.60). Try to go for the less-sweetened version if you are health conscious.
