"Go Eat Without Thinking", a slogan created by Threesixty.us; finding food in Penang has never been easier with the launching of Threesixty.us mobile application. It was my pleasure to be invited as a guest to their official launching event which was held at Deluxcious Hotel, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Penang on 9th of September, 2013.
If I may, Threesixty.us is a mobile application that allows its users to search the food eateries or food that can be found nearby; each food recommendation comes with useful information such as business hour, contact information, address etc... It acts as a social media-platform where users are given the freedom to rate the eateries according to their preferences. The application is now available and ready to be downloaded for Android and soon to be available on Apple Store. Guests were first served with some of their colorful and enticing cocktail at the function room, as well as some snacks to munch on.
Ms. Ooi Geok Ling, Managing Director of Penang Global Tourism was there to give a simple speech where she shared her thoughts on the application and how Penang has transformed since few decades back then.
Mr. Vin Lim, founder of Threesixty.us shared with us his ideas on promoting Penang's food industry.
Mr. Tan Jun Chien, the IT Engineer, was there to provide insightful information on the application.
Guests were then invited to their restaurant for refreshment. Their Afternoon Tea Set (Rm 39.90++ for two) consists of Sandwiches, Cakes and various Jellies and Sweets. There were two types of Sandwiches available that day- Smoked Salmon Sandwich and Egg-Mayo Sandwich, both of them were decent but the edges of the bread were rather dry, probably they have left the Sandwiches there for quite some time. I get to try their Red Velvet cake too, which layered with Cheese and Cream. I did not harbor high expectation on the Red Velvet Cake and I was right, the texture was hard and nothing to shout over for the taste. However, their Hokkaido Cake was good but not mind-blowing. The Jellies and Desserts at the bottom tier did not impress me further either, most of them tasted like ordinary Jellies which can be found else-where. It is a shame that they did not include any Scones onto the tray. Scones are like quintessential for an Afternoon Tea to me. Overall, I thought their Afternoon Tea was just mediocre. It might worth a visit for the ambiance; services provided to us were genuine and attentive either.
