Toys lovers/ collectors would definitely love to have this place in mind- stepping into the cafe is like stepping into a toy museum. Toys Cafe is a newly opened humble little cafe located at the bustling road of Bishop Street, the cafe owner himself is an ardent fan of toy figures and has many collection over the years; all the displaying toys are part of his collection. Toys Cafe does not have much to offer currently, just a few simple types of Cakes and few choices of their fresh brews. Nevertheless, the air-conditioned and wifi-available cafe is ideal to spend some time chilling out with friends or to have a closer look at the collection of toys.
Their serving of Latte (Rm 9.90) comes with a small piece of complimentary Japanese Cheese Cake. The Latte was rich, creamy and not overly sweeten ended with a bitter note; albeit not the best Latte around but it was a lovely drink to sip on. On the other hand, the Japanese Cheese Cake was moist, velvety and soft, although not cheesy but the cake was light and possessed a perfect balance in sweetness to my liking. A worth-ordering and worth-the-value order.
Sweet indulgence includes their Black Forest (Rm 7.90), which scored averagely okay. The layers of Sponge Cake barely registered any flavors but the real draw was the Blueberry Jam which granted the flavors to the cake. The result was a smooth and fruity cake, with a perfect maneuver in terms of sweetness but I was expecting more, probably the presence of some fresh berries. Overall, I thought the cake was pretty normal in terms of flavor and taste.
On the other hand, their Mocha Rum Cake (Rm 7.90) was a disappointment. I thought the cake was a misnomer, the absence of Rum makes it no difference from any usual Mocha/ Coffee flavored cakes. Layers of Mocha/ Coffee flavored Sponge smeared with Whipped Cream, very creamy but lacked of texture. Despite the cake was moderately sweeten, I did not find myself enjoy the cake though.
A worth-trying set priced at Rm 16.90, which includes a drink served with Japanese Cheese Cake, and a Sandwich as well as a bowl of Mushroom Soup.
