Kerabu Ayam

Kerabu Taugeh

Assorted Salad

Prawn Salad

Salted Duck Egg

Tempeh

Start your meal with the various types of appetizers and Kerabu dishes. We enjoyed the Kerabu Ayam and Prawn Salad for being light and refreshing, though an extra citrusy tilt would be great. G Cafe stands out by offering Ulam- Ulaman and their assorted Sambal and Chili dips. Sambal Belacan, Cincalok, Budu, Acar Limau and Air Masam are amongst the worth-trying ones.

Sup Ekor

Rojak Penang

Pasembur

The Sup Ekor was okay but we thought it could be better with a stronger flavor from Herbs and Spices. We did enjoy the Rojak Penang and Pasembur though. G Cafe surprises us with their various condiments for their Pasembur dish, we had Tempura Squid, Tempura Prawns, Deep Fried Egg, Prawn Fritters and the quintessential julienned Jicama and Cucumbers. The concoction was sweet and savory, crunchy and full of different layers of dimension. If I had to comment, it will be the level of spiciness- I thought it could be spicier for the extra chili kick.

Chicken Kapitan

Deep Fried Fish with Thai Chili Sauce

Fried Singapore Bee Hoon

Vegetables Au Gratin

Beef Rendang

Fish Curry

Black Pepper Prawns

Lamb Roganjosh

Nasi Briyani

Turkey Rendang

We were pleased with the various types of Curries we had. Beef and Turkey Rendang were some of the much lauded items on that day. Not to be missed will be their Black Pepper Prawns, slightly resilient but not rubbery Prawns brilliantly cooked with Black Pepper sauce and Capsicum for the unique twist of change. Fried Singapore Bee Hoon may seem deceptively simple but it was lip-smacking. It was not clumpy at all and every single bite of the Vermicelli Noodles was delicately seasoned, even better to go with the Rendang and Curries. Nasi Briyani was good but I thought the texture was a little mushy and I would prefer to have some meat in that dish rather than Eggs. Other possible mains include Sotong Berempah Kuala Perlis, Grilled Tandoori Lamb Chop with Mango Mint Chutney, Ayam Percik Kota Bharu, Asam Pedas Ikan Tenggiri Seri Johor, Ketam Masak Balado, Ayam Pongteh Falafel and Perut Masak Lemak etc.

Assorted soft and pillowy Bread and Rolls to be dipped with the Curries and Rendang.

Roasted Lamb

The Carvery Action Stall on our visit was less-satisfying. Roasted Lamb seems to be the only option and I had one little piece. Disappointingly, that cut was overcooked and the texture was rough. Sweet Relish and Satay Sauce were the condiments to go with the Lamb but I would certainly prefer the traditional Mint Sauce over these two.

Assam Laksa

The quintessential Penangites' all time favorite- Assam Laksa was available from their "action stall". Menu is constantly rotating and it will be changed on a frequent basis. Other possible dishes are Laksam, Laksa Johor, Hokkien Mee, Roti Jala with Chicken Curry, Murtabak with Gravy, Roti Canai with Dhal Curry and Nyonya Spring Rolls/ Pie Tee.

Fruit Konyaku

Chocolate Fountain

Durian Mousse

Chocolate Moist

Layer Cake

Sago served with Palm Sugar

Dessert lovers must be excited to learn that there will be aplenty of desserts waiting for them. A must-have for the chocoholics, G Cafe will be preparing plenty of dips for their Chocolate Fountain. The culinary team of G Cafe plays the seasonal card well by offering Durian Mousse. Durian lovers will find it hard to control themselves with the dessert. It uses real durian flesh and the durian flavor was very strong strong but the best part... it was not disconcertingly sweet. Equally good will be their Cheese Cake, it possesses the right balance of sweetness, flavor and texture, as though it melts instantly in your mouth. On the other hand, the flavor of Chocolate Moist was okay but we thought the texture was a little too dry to our liking; same goes to the Layer Cake which we thought it was pretty standard-average.
