Caffeine Chemistry Coffee is yet another new tenant that entered the newly refurbished heritage building- Chime Heritage. Unlike The Haven Harbour, Caffeine Chemistry Coffee walks a slightly different path. The cafe is more casual and the whimsical interior decor exudes a younger and energetic vibe. We glad that the cafe tries to offer something different than the ubiquitous cakes. They do not serve any mains at the moment but they do serve some light snacks and Salad for the health-conscious. While the seats may not be very comfortable, we were well-pleased with the friendly and attentive service. A decent place to have a quick chat with your friends and have your caffeine fixed.
We were intrigued by how the cafe serves their Salad, Oriental Salad with Chicken in Jar (Rm 10.50). Grilled Chicken Breast atop of a bed of Fresh Greens served with Thai-Chili dressing. The Chicken was well-marinated, though a little dry in texture but we like the guilt-free protein-packed Chicken Breast that provides another layer of dimension to the Salad. The Thai-Chili dressing may seem deceptively simple but it works perfectly well with the Chicken and refreshing crunch of Greens. It was sweet and spicy, further enhanced with the use of Italian Herbs. We appreciate the Chef puts everything into great details, even the unnoticeable Croutons were nicely done- crispy and aromatic in its own way.
Available from 8 am to 12 pm (everyday), diners can purchase the set of Kaya Butter Toast with Soft Boiled Eggs for Rm 2.50 (with every purchase of Latte, Americano, Cappuccino and Hot Tea). We were delighted with the shattering crisp of the Toast; the home-made Kaya carries a wonderful Coconut-Eggy aroma, though inevitably sweet, but the sweetness could be toned down with a generous spread of Salted Butter. Pair it with a cup of Joe and it fits the traditional way of how a Penangite enjoys the local breakfast.
