One of the famous Curry Mees in town- Tua Pui Curry Mee has since moved to a new location- Kimberley Street from Weld Quay. Tua Pui Curry Mee occupies a shop right now, the stall is now tucked within one of the houses along Kimberley Street. Tua Pui Curry Mee is famed for its array of toppings that you can add onto your bowl of heart-warming Curry Mee. Curry Chicken, Curry Squid, Curry Chicken Feet and Fish Balls are some of the ingredients that you can potentially choose from. However, everything comes with a price, the additional add-ons do not come cheap. Tua Pui Curry Mee is a stone's throw distance away from the junction of Carnarvon Street and Kimberley Street, facing Lorong Ngah Aboo.
A very heavy breakfast, I had my Curry Mee (Large- Rm 4.50) topped with loads of toppings- a couple of Fish Balls, some Curry Chicken; all for Rm 8.30. Original version comes with the common fare- fresh Cockles, coagulated Pork Blood, Tofu Puffs and Cuttlefish (note: no prawns). Portion was smaller than expected, though I went for large one. The broth was creamier/ lemak than usual, with a sleek of mellow but discernible sweetnes; the extra touch of Chili Paste had not done much in its aid, probably overpowered by the Curry Chicken. The Curry Chicken, on the other hand, was disappointingly average. They were tender and certainly not hard to the bite but pretty much the standard Curry Chicken that you can find elsewhere. Slightly overpriced for that portion in my opinion, good for those with big appetite nevertheless.
