**Fika has since ceased its business operations.**
Swedish food? Malaysians are likely to know Meat Balls, a world-renowned Swedish food but what's more? You may find out some answers from Fika, a newly opened cafe manned by Swedish. A stroll along the narrow alley of Lorong Toh Aka, you will find yourself arrive at the quaint little cafe- Fika, easily recognized by the blue-yellow Swedish flag placed right in front of the place. The snug cafe has a pretty cool ambiance, in shades of wooden beam covering the brick wall, adorned with various bric-a-brac. It can be a little warm during sultry days so its best to visit the place in morning. It does not serve any main at present, only a few traditional Swedish pastries, a place most suitable for novelty experience.
Did you know the Cinnamon Roll is one of the most representative Swedish dishes? Kanebulle (Rm 5), Swedish traditional homemade Cinnamon Bun, garnished with desiccated Coconut. A slightly sweet, spiced Bun that goes along with a cup of Joe. However, we thought it was nothing out of the ordinary and the texture can be slightly moister.
Weight-watchers might want to step back, Semla (Rm 12), a traditional Swedish pastry- homemade wheat bread with Swedish style Almond paste and served with a huge dollop of whipped Cream. The wheat bread has texture akin to Scones, somewhere between cookie and bread, with a hint of sweetness. We did not enjoy the Whipped Cream though, probably we were in the fear for the indelible guilt of over-indulgent. Not recommended for those who are counting their daily calories intake.
Paleo Coffee Smoothie (Rm 15)
