More brunch options for early-risers, the new snug and small cafe at Carnavon Street has a decidedly relaxed feel. Limited tables available (probably 3 tables) but it somehow feels roomy and not cramped. They do not have a very big brunch menu, but good enough for a weekend leisure brunch; dabble yourself with a wine-drinking brunch as Coffee Addict does serve Red/ White (Sauvignon) at (Rm 14/ glass). It has a semi-outdoorsy ambiance (not air-conditioned), where one could sit by the bustling Carnavon Street and watch the world goes by. Expect no sophisticated and proper seating at Coffee Addict but classic, old school metal stools and tables. The best time to visit the place will be in the morning... late afternoon might be a bad idea as the hot, sultry tropical weather might put you off. Precise location of Coffee Addict: opposite to the Police Station at Carnavon Street or behind to Armenian Street Heritage Hotel.
We took their recommendation- French Toast with Cream Cheese and Blueberries (Rm 10), warm, thick toast sandwiching Cream Cheese and fresh Blueberries, drizzled over Honey and finished with of-the-season Strawberries. Probably too much of honey, the Cream Cheese did not stand out while the use of Wholemeal Bread resulted in a gritty texture; less-smooth than expected. Perhaps more appropriate to be served as dessert than a breakfast/ brunch item.
Grilled Cheese with Onions Confit and Rocket Sandwich (Rm 12) has a chock-full of crunchy elements in it. The Onions Confit was not as sweet as expected; the Cheese was certainly enticing but the Sandwich (as a whole) was not particularly exciting. It lacked of the meat-factor and the whole Sandwich was rather monotonous. A good option for Vegetarians nevertheless.
Black Honey/ Americano with Honey (Rm 7)
