Han Sik Ga- True Korean Dining @ Gurney Plaza, Penang.

Forget Korean Barbecue meat, it's all about stews, noodles and Bibimbap at the newly opened Han Sik Ga on 7th floor of Gurney Plaza. With its truly Korean dining atmosphere, an army of servers and a great variety of authentic Korean fare, the restaurant seeks to offer diners great Korean dining experience. With a menu full of Stews and Noodle choices, the place is suitable for family eat-outs whether lunch or dinner. We could tell that the restaurant pays great attention to details... from the serving utensils to the way they presented the food. What surprised us was the affordability, we expected the meal to cost a bomb but it turned out to be pretty wallet-friendly (considering the generous serving portion)... basically a Rm 60 would score 2 diners a meal at Han Sik Ga, with refillable Ban Chan to feed everyone.

Galbitang/ Beef Soup (Rm 28)

Spicy Neng Myun/ Korean Cold Noodles (Rm 23)

Tteokbokki (Rm 16)

Complimentary Ban Chan

Galbitang is an unusual affair at any Korean restaurants in Penang but the comforting, delicious Beef soup is to die for. Han Sik Ga's rendition had Glass Noodles included, served with piping hot Steamed Korean Rice. Salt and Pepper was offered to us... clearly a Korean-thing as the Koreans usually let the diners to season their own soup. The Galbitang was served to us scorching hot... but definitely most comforting to the tummy. It packed a powerful beefy flavor; the Beef short Ribs were beautifully cooked to the addictive, meaty texture. We thought it was amazing.

Spicy Neng Myun was alright, we love the bouncy texture of the Noodles and the seasoning was spot on. We would prefer more Radish and Cucumbers but that's entirely our own preference. Other than that, it was pretty decent. Tteokbokki on the other hand, could be more chewy. The texture was on the softer side though they have done well on the Tteokbokki sauce... not too sweet, with a spicy punch. Also note worthy... the Ban Chan... clearly on the weaker side as it does not offer much option but good for Kim Chi lovers; on our visit, we were offered 3 types of Kim Chi.
